Welcome Kat, our co-host for our new podcast episodes! We'll be putting them out weekly in time for the weekends, so going forward they are going to be more or less "live" in sharing our progress as we go.

This episode though is a special one.  Clocking in at well over an hour, we decided to do a big catch up summary, with everything that has gone on since the last episode, through the preparations for production, launch and our first 6 months "in business".

Here are some pics to bring to light some of the things we talked about...

Here was an early draft of the ball packaging concept...

We used it in our early prototype taste tests to get feedback

At this time we were also doing a lot of hands on research with existing packages in supermarkets, measuring, seeing how they presented the info...

We were also trying to take better photos of the prototype so we could use them as a starting point for our package images...

Starting to look alright...

After some more iteration, got a cleaner ball packaging and started to work on the back and bottom as well...

Had fun manually crafting a paper mockup in actual size...

And seeing how they would look on shelves...

Meanwhile, started also working on graphics for the choc blok...

And then working on some color and layouts for the bar package...

Then after more iteration and polling, did the paper mockup as well

Then lots of research into Shelf Ready Packs..

Then a scale mockup of our SRP design (took ages to cut it out!)

Seeing it all come together in the preproduction samples was pretty surreal...

After packaging, moved onto pre-sales, to get stockists onboard in advance of the actual production.  By march we had verbals commits for the first three!

We also got the first carton sample, to see how it all looked together...

Then production finished!  First to get stock was Hong Kong, where we sent 20% of our batch

And the rest of the stock went in a container headed to Melbourne...

While the goods were in transit, it was a frantic couple of weeks to try to find a warehouse to store the goods...luckily we found one that worked

Then, several weeks early, our little Lincoln decided to come out, on April 22nd (Earth Day!) right when the goods were due to clear customs...

The next days were a whirlwind, going back and forth to the hospital (we had to stay there a couple of weeks as he arrived early) and getting the chocs into the warehouse...

Thankfully the goods arrived intact and safely into the warehouse temp controlled storage...

On that same day, I grabbed a bunch of cartons to hand deliver to our very first Australian stockist, The Cruelty Free Shop!

Meanwhile back and forth to help look after our other "launch"

A couple of short weeks later, we had our public event launch at the Big Vegan Market in Melbourne, which was a huge undertaking... lots of hard work to get everything together...

Meanwhile we started getting early stockists in other parts of Australia, like The Green Edge up in Brisbane...

and in Hong Kong we started selling into Green Common, the largest plant-based chain there...

So, that was the crazy process to get to launch!

Looking forward to share a lot more on the podcast, now moving to a weekly format...

We've passed the first hurdle, to actually get to market, launch a product and start to get some early sales and feedback... Let's see how it'll turn out in coming weeks and months :)
